My main purpose with this article is to create room for thought and debate on the topic of supporting new game modes for structured Player versus Player (sPvP from now on). Should ArenaNet care and support different game modes, or should they just focus on Conquest and get the most out of it?

SPvP: Season Five, the Miracle We NeededThe fifth Season of Leagues features a fair amount of changes in regards to a large part of sPvP systems, from the climbing system up to the rewards system, successfully making competitive Guild Wars 2 a lot more enjoyable than it was in the previous seasons. Though it also came with flaws and drawbacks. SPvP Ranked Round-up and Wish List for sPvP Season 5League’s Season Four ended on 3rd of October and since then, we have had little news about the upcoming changes for Season Five. To provide a background: Season One to Season Four marked the “First Year of sPvP Leagues”. That included the Legendary Backpiece, as a special reward only achievable through playing Ranked games during the Seasons’ length. Pro League Finals ImpressionsA week ago the first round of Pro League Finals took place. The teams participating were the top two European ones (Rank 55 Dragons and Vermillion) and the top two North American ones (The Abjured and Team PZ). Despite the technical difficulties that occurred during the event, following it on Twitch (alongside some friends on TS) was great fun! The Hidden Potential: Strongold ProblemsSome people hate it, other love it. However, no matter your feelings towards the new sPvP mode, there’s no denying it is riddled with issues that hide its true potential. I’ll outline several problems I find impactful enough to keep Stronghold back from achieving a higher competitive status. But before I go there, let me first talk about the things I consider Stronghold does right. |
