New Lion’s Arch Has Arrived!

New_LA

And boy, is it gorgeous. There’s been a lot of changes, and while I’d like to describe them all, a picture really is worth a thousand words. I’ve got a lot of pictures of Lion’s Arch both before and after the patch today, so let’s do a comparison to see what’s changed between before and after.

gw253
The old, busted-up bank.
gw256
The Crow’s Nest Tavern, meeting place of the Captain’s Council.
Kinda small and broken.
gw258
The entrance of Lion’s Arch coming in from Gendarran Fields.
gw260
The old Black Lion Trading headquarters.
gw262
The Mystic Forge and surrounding crafting stations.
gw267
The docks of old Lion’s Arch.
gw269
The old lighthouse. Kinda leaning a bit.
gw270
Construction near Fort Marriner.
gw271
The gate plaza at Fort Marriner, leading to the Mists.
gw274
View of the construction near the capital cities’ asura gate plaza and Lion’s Court.
gw289
Deverol Island, future site of a chapel.
gw294
Construction of what will be the headquarters of the Guild Initiative.
gw303
View of the area that used to be the Mystic Plaza.
gw307
More construction near Lion’s Court.
gw308
The new Mystic Forge! You can actually jump in it and it spits you back out again.
gw309
The new area in front of the entrance from Gendarran Fields. So pretty.
gw310
The octopus shelters the new bank, and the doorway with gear designs leads to the Vaults, the new Black Lion Trading headquarters.
gw315
The new capital cities gate plaza. I love the new building architecture.
gw317
The Guild Initiative headquarters, sadly not open for business yet.
gw318
But they do have a representative outside.
gw321
Deverol Island, with the new chapel. Not as big as I was expecting.
gw322
Closeup of the chapel. Awfully pretty, I must say.
And are marriages coming to Guild Wars 2?
gw323
Near Farshore Waypoint, this boss from the Queen’s Gauntlet is running around. A sign for the future?
gw324
Fort Marriner, exterior. Impressive.
gw327
Fort Marriner, interior. Here’s the gate plaza for the Mists gates.
gw328
Another exterior view of Fort Marriner.
gw331
The new lighthouse, and Ellyna Graidy is there to guide people,
just like her father before her.
gw333
A new vendor where you can exchange ecto and gold for destabilized ecto. Not quite sure what the point is yet.
gw334
The Field of the Fallen, a monument to those that died in Scarlet’s attack.
gw335
The area under the water feature at the Field of the Fallen.
gw336
A skritt information broker dishing on a rumor.
gw338
The new Crow’s Nest Tavern, meeting place of the Captain’s Council.
gw339
Aerial view of the Crow’s Nest. So spacious!
gw340
The redesigned docks. Lobster docks! Lobster docks?
gw344
New view of Lion’s Court. The canopy is beautiful.
gw346
The lion statue, now located in Fort Marriner instead of Lion’s Court.
I’m glad it’s better defended now.
gw347
A new trans NPC in Fort Marriner. She’s pretty great.
gw351
Bloomanoo and Peneloopee have found a new home!
And they’re raising tadpoles. So precious.
gw352
On a more grim note: a Lionguard investigating a murdered sylvari. Foreboding.
gw353
But to wrap things up on a lighter note, here’s “Evon” Gnashblade.
What a bum.

So there you go, folks. New Lion’s Arch is quite the place. Go check it out and explore it yourself!

  1. Excellent screenshots there, thank you!

I’m loving the look of the new Lion’s Arch. The older one felt too claustrophobic in many areas, but this new one is much more open and free. Really rather beautiful to behold!

  2. The new Lion’s Arch is so beautiful!

Thank you for putting this post together and documenting all the minor details.

As for marriages, I think there’s an NPC next to the chapel that sells a flowers bundle?
